Information

Launched in 2020 by the UW Program on Climate Change (PCC), Actionable Community-Oriented Research eNgagement (ACORN) supports collaboration between community leaders and UW graduate students to address community priorities related to climate and energy. The ACORN team pairs community organizations with graduate students who volunteer their time (typically about 12 hours per month over the course of 1 year) to conduct projects with meaningful community impact. In addition to supporting community goals, these ACORN projects enable students to enrich their research experience, broaden their networks, and apply quantitative, analytical, and communication skills beyond the boundaries of their primary academic focus. Building on a commitment by the PCC “to help society address the challenges of climate change,” ACORN builds relationships between the University and members of the wider community to find multidimensional climate and community solutions. We are continually locating more projects and look forward to meeting more community leaders and initiating collaborations at the Northwest Climate Conference.

Please ensure you take time to watch the Lightning Talks prior to the Networking sessions that take place on each day.
